📢 Version Releases

📢 Angular v16 Has Landed

The Angular team shipped version 16 last week. Minko Gechev walks through the headline features in the official announcement.

I've broken down all the significant updates and pointed to learning resources in my article "Master Angular 16".

Here's what's new:

  • Signals
  • DestroyRef along with takeUntilDestroyed
  • Inputs are now required by default in certain contexts
  • Router state can be bound directly to component inputs
  • Dropped support for Node.js v14
  • Compatible with TypeScript 5.0
  • The Angular Compatibility Compiler (ngcc) is gone
  • SSR now supports non-destructive hydration and can reuse server-side request results on the client
  • ngTemplateOutlet gets stricter type checking
  • A new provideServiceWorker function for registering service workers in standalone apps
  • Jest support is now available in an experimental capacity
  • The dev server now runs on Vite and Esbuild.

📢 Nx v16 Is Out

Nx v16 is now available. Zack DeRose highlights what's been added:

  • Easier setup presets for React, Angular, and Node starter projects
  • Vite and Vitest support inside integrated Nx monorepos
  • An official plugin for Deno
  • Workspaces that don't rely on npm, opening the door for projects in C#, Java, or Kotlin
  • Nx Console now works with JetBrains IDEs
  • Nx versions are no longer tied to Angular, so you can update them independently
