Angular Testing Workshop and Architecture Workshop – Our Take

The front-end landscape evolves daily, and Angular is no exception. The urge to upskill is strong, yet it’s easy to feel stuck. Options abound: learning from a mentor, taking online courses, or enrolling in workshops. The market now offers a broad spectrum of training options. Unfortunately, the IT sector’s popularity has drawn many who see it as a lucrative path, and some training providers prioritize profit over substance. Recently, we attended a session led by Manfred Steyer, a name you might recall from NGPoland. He also holds the title of Google Developer Expert (GDE).

Our expectation was that the workshop would unlock insights not readily available from public docs, and Manfred is indeed someone who genuinely shares his expertise. Here’s our feedback and assessment.

Angular Testing Workshop Review

This is a two-day program focused on testing within the Angular ecosystem. A standout feature is the hands-on approach, where attendees experiment with real examples grounded in case studies and have the freedom to ask the instructor about any challenge they encounter.

The agenda covers:

  • Testing fundamentals
  • Unit tests with Jest
  • Component tests using Jest
  • End-to-end testing with Cypress
  • Component testing via Cypress and Storybook

Angular Architecture Workshop Review

Spanning several days, this course is tailored for architects. The carefully designed exercises let you put every discussed concept into practice. Whenever you hit a snag, the instructor is available, and for more complex issues, you can share your screen for a pair-programming session.

„The training introduced me to several cutting-edge technologies, including Nrwl/Nx, Webpack Module Federation, and NgRx. The highlight was the conversation around structuring large applications. The discussion comparing micro frontends benefits and drawbacks against monolithic designs was particularly engaging. Being able to ask questions and have direct, one-on-one dialogues with the instructor is a huge plus. It’s a chance to validate your own architectural ideas, especially if you’ve been following Manfred’s blog recommendations. However, if you’re already familiar with that blog, the content might feel somewhat introductory.”

Final Thoughts

We suggest these workshops for intermediate developers, particularly those who don’t regularly read Manfred’s blog. They are not suited for complete beginners to Angular.
