A Call for Support for Ukraine and the Founder of In-Depth
I launched inDepth.dev (formerly AngularInDepth) with a simple mission: to make deep technical knowledge freely available to everyone. Over the past three years, the publication has reached more than 20 million developers, helping them understand the inner workings of frameworks and libraries and grow their careers. Getting the publication off the ground and scaling it to its current level was no easy feat, but with your collective support, we won that fight.
Today, I and my country — Ukraine — face a far more existential challenge. This is a fight for our very survival, against the evil and terror carried out by the russian army and those who command it.
More than a month has passed since russia invaded Ukraine. The enemy seeks to erase our history, language, and culture. They brutally kill anyone who stands against them. We have no choice but to fight, otherwise we risk reliving the horrors of our WWII past — mass killings, imprisonment, torture of activists, and Holodomor. There is no doubt about this, as we are already witnessing these atrocities in the territories temporarily occupied by russia. Just days ago, more than 30 people were killed and over 100 injured in a rocket attack on the Kramatorsk railway station — at a time when thousands of people were trying to evacuate.
Ukraine stands for freedom and democratic values. If Ukraine falls, the world will never be a safe place again.
Alongside my friends in Ukraine, I am collecting funds and purchasing desperately needed equipment for the Ukrainian army. We are deeply grateful to everyone abroad who helps us with deliveries.
A generous donation from Niall Crosby and Sid Sijbrandij allowed us to purchase sleeping bags, protective gear, and IFAKs for the Ukrainian forces.
We also received support from the team at Nrwl.io and Michael Prentice, and we have contributed more than $10k of our own funds toward equipment.
Yet it is not enough. With russians planning another heavy assault on Ukraine in the Donbass region in the coming weeks, we are in urgent need of more resources.
The Battle of Donbas will be similar to World War II. "This will not be a local operation based on what we see from Russia's preparations," Dmytro Kuleba said, adding that he expects large-scale operations involving thousands of tanks, armored vehicles, and aircraft.
